Oh well, I really hoped they would be included in the newest ep. And I agree, this:
if the roommates lived with your sim and didn't have to be actively controlled.

Is a feature I am desperately missing since the basegame.

Signed. I'm very disappointed by the fact that city living does not include a roommate system like The sims 2.

I don't see any necessity in this.. roomates are already a base game feature. To be honest, when I played with roomates in TS2 Apartment Life - I always used the 'boolprop controlpets on' cheat, to have at least some Impact on them.. sooo dunno, don't feel the need for this
  • I sign, I would really love proper, non active room mates back.

Some people want multiple sims in their house but only want to be in control of one, and to have their money separate etc.
It helps with different story options.

  • I thought the feature of being able to give Sims keys to your apartment did this? They allow uncontrolled Sims to come and go as they please in your apartment, right?
    a.k.a. Menaceman44 on MTS.
Thoughts on a new wall mode?

But those Sims won't share your rent nor will you need to make sure you provide them with a place to sleep ect, they will just be visitors unless you ask them to move in. So it isn't the same thing.

You could simple decide to never select the sim or just don't control them at all. Yes, seperate funds would be a nice thought, but roomate system wouldn't be the best to have the addition exclusive to there.
Edit1 Thought you were giving arguments in having normal sims in the household vs roomates. Nevertheless, I just gave my point why there's no good point of having that system in-game. With that said, I do like the idea that ea made 'roomates' noncontroble - all their should be a new phone/computer option that allows easy move-in option from the pool box without the requirement of having high relationship to their unretable/stranger sim.

If you have control over them, then how different are they from your active household? Might as well just move them in.
Anyway, if we ever get roommates, I'd want them to be more than just uncontrollable. Please give them to us Sims 2 style. Placing an ad, moving out autonomously if you don't get along, etc.
  • Totally agree. Maybe they could add this feature in University ep. Since they're 99.9% likely to not add this to city living. Even though this was the perfect opportunity for them to.

  • Yes, I really want NPC roommates back as well. It would have been a great opportunity to put them into CL, I'm disappointed that they decided to leave them out.

NPC roommates + Locked doors + Rented lot = TS3 Apartment lot
  • Dear Devs,
Is there anyway you could make roommates in City Living be non-controllable sims? 6 weeks out from launch.. I know, probably not, but had to ask anyway.
It would just be super cool if the roommates who lived with your sim were uncontrolled NPC's.
*edited to make it all a little clearer.

Yes yes yes yes yes. I loved that in Sims 3 -- roommates could be as wonderful or as terrible as their traits. It was great when you had a neat roommate, but a slob?
It just added a really fun dynamic.

I remember in the clip, that a room-key is given. Oh no DON'T TELL ME it means room accessible ONLY.

Just because you don't want a feature doesn't mean that there's no point. I too would love NPC roommates
  • I can imagine my Sim's roommate catching themselves on fire >_> So.. yes! NPC roomies would've been awesome!!
  • Please can this be added before the release? I like to let my Sims game play by itself, its the highlight of my game when unexpected things happen. Its different from just having a sim in the household and not playing them, because Sims in the household act less randomly and have less random emotion shifts than NPCs, they also don't take care of themselves till the last minute, so there'd always be a stinky, boring sim walking around. Also uncontrolled Sims have more of an air of being their own person, rather than an empty vessel.
